NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up media files, app data, and contacts on the phone.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- Go to “Contacts to display”
- Select “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export contacts”
- Tap “Import from SD card” > “OK”
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Go to “SD Card” and tap “Menu”
- Tap “Edit” and check the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “Internal storage”
- Tap “Create folder” or “Move here” and select the desired folder name
- Tap “Move here”
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Android device and PC
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / ‘Media device” when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Go to the “Restore / “Back up” tab
- Go to “Restore”
- Tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore, then tap “Restore” and follow the prompts
- Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “Trash can” to eject it
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
