Back Up App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Cloud and account”
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or reinstall the apps
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Go to “Cloud and account”
- Tap “Accounts”
- Select the desired account to use for syncing contacts
- Ensure “Contacts” is checked and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Open “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu”
- Go to “Settings” and switch to “All contacts” if necessary
- Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD”
- Tap “OK”
Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:
- Launch “My Files”
- Access “Internal storage”
- Tap “Menu” > “Share”
- Select the desired contacts and tap “Share”
- Select the desired backup location
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Go to the phone storage, and copy the media files you want to back up
- Transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies
- Click “Download for Mac” and install Kies
- Next, connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac and go to the “Back up / Restore” tab
- Access “Backup” and tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to begin the process
- Once the backup completes, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
