Back Up App Data:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Cloud and account”
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling applications
Back Up Contacts:
- Open “Contacts”
- Go to “Cloud and account”
- Access “Accounts” and select the desired backup account
- Enable “Contacts” and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Open “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu”
- Go to “Settings” and switch to “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export”
- Select “Export to SD” and tap “OK”
Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Go to “Internal storage”
- Tap “Menu” > “Share”
- Select the desired contacts
- Tap “Share” and select a backup location
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the PC
- Navigate to the phone storage and copy the desired media files
- Transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC storage
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies
- Click “Download for Mac” and install the app on the computer
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / Restore”
- Access “Backup”
- Tick the boxes associated with the media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to start the process
- Once the process completes, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the trash can
- You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
