- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Apps” and select the desired app
- Tap “Storage”
- Tap “Clear cache” > “OK”
- If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold “Power’ “Home”/”Bixby” and “Volume down” at the same time
- At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for the Android Recovery menu
- Press “Volume down” to navigate the menu
- Highlight “Wipe cache partition”
- Press “Power”
- Highlight “Yes” using the volume rocker and press “Power” again
- Once done, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power”
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Make sure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold “Power”
- At the Samsung logo, release “Power” and press and hold “Volume Down” instead
- After the phone finishes rebooting, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen. Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and select the desired app
- Tap “Uninstall” two times
- Once the app has been removed, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
