Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, or doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing the problems by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including custom settings, save files, user profiles, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps’ and select the desired app
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
  4. Tap “OK
  5. If clearing the app cache didn’t solve the issues, tap “Clear data” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these problems by clearing the cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device storage.

  1. Turn the phone Off if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume down” and “Home”/”Bixby” at the same time
  3. At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
  4. Press “Volume down” to navigate the menu to highlight “Wipe cache partition
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlight
  6. Finally, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone finishes rebooting, release the keys. A “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, open “Settings” and go to “Apps
  6. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” two times
  7. Once done, you can exist Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
