Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: if one of your apps freezes, crashes, or takes more storage than it should, you can try fixing it by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When clearing an app’s data, you will delete all of your personal data stored within the app. You can avoid this by clearing ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Apps” and select the desired app
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
  4. Tap “OK
  5. If clearing the app cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (Check the Warning above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing the device by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset but without the loss of personal data from the phone storage.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume Down” and the “Home” / “Bixby” buttons at the same time
  3. Release the buttons once at the Android screen and wait for access to Android Recovery
  4. Press “Volume down” repeatedly in the recovery menu until you highlight “Wipe cache partition
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Then highlight “Yes” and press “Power
  7. Lastly, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power

NOTE: if clearing the cache didn’t sole the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: if one of your third-party applications causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” while the phone is powered off
  2. Release “Power” at the Samsung logo and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  3. Wait for the device to reboot and release the key. Once it finishes rebooting, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen
  4. Open “Settings” and go to “Apps
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall
  6. To exit Safe Mode, reboot the phone normally
