    All,

I've been trying to upload ringtones to my new a670 using the notes mentioned in another posting. But I can't seem to get it all to work...

Is there a file size limit to what the 670 will accept?

What's the format (.mmf, .midi, .mp3)?

Does Verizon kill some of this playing around? I've tried a bunch of different ways to send the files to my phone and they attachment is always cut off...

Do I need to attach the sound to a picture perhaps??

Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated

ok first you need qpst or bitpim. bitpim will work but you cant use the tabs you have to look at the file logging system. do you have a data cable. get one from radioshack or something.
    FILE LIMIT -30kbs
RINGTONE FORMAT - qcp, midi, and pmd
Ok you will make a folder called user and inside the folder make another folder called sound and inside that folder make a folder called ringer.
    it should look like this

    bitpim & qpst

i've tried bitpim and qpst and can't seem to get either to connect to my phone-a670. qpst only connects through com 1,2 and my phone is com 3, and bitpim gives me 'unexpected exceptions' every time i try to get data from phone.

also kaozik, what was that wallpaper directory you mentioned?

    thanks

you could always send it through mms if ur phone accepts it. download the tone to ur comp., go to vzwpix.com and then u can send it to ur phone from there. u only get charged for receiving the mms

I've been successfully using midi files I'd emailed myself (phone#@vzwpix.com), but it seems there a limit of 10 songs you can have active in MyMelody (not size contrained, but actual number of songs). Anyone know a way around this?

    verizon censorship

after doing some research, apparently verizon doesn't let you download midi & pics from any site, only from their getitnow partners. meaning, i can't even download my own midi via wap from my own site, although i can install them by emailing them to my phone, which is limited to 10 active MyMelody ringers.

i'd return to sprint with unlimited free file uploads to the phone, except for their crappy non-sms web-only txt msg'ing...

ok this is the method i used. you go into brew dir<which is nvm> then you go into brew . then you create a directory called shared. then you can put you images in there.

oh ghostman i had the same problem to. but you have to install the drivers for you cable look online. then you go into your phone into data and put it to the baud rate the com is at. than it should show up on qpst. sometimes you have to disconnect and reconnect the cable to your phone. if you need any help my aim is aznflipkid123

I've got a couple questions about the data cable and the a670. I'm looking into getting one because yeah, I got the pix messaging solution to work for getting ringtones but I'd like a solution that doesn't cost me money each time I use it.

Just shopping around a little I found some all-in-one package at Best Buy for $80. Seemed kind of expensive to start with but also I couldn't confirm it was going to work with the a670. Found a link: Best Buy Data Cable

Now, I also found this: Cell Phone Mall Cable

My question is can I find a cable by itself for cheaper and if so, where? Also, if I were to get one of these packages, probably the cell phone mall one, would the included software let me transfer wallpaper and midis or would I still need one of the freeware programs like Gaggin?
I begin by taking. I shall find scholars later to demonstrate my perfect right.
