I have a Samsung a650 with Verizon. I can't seem to make this phone assign distinctive ringtones to individuals in my phone book. As I enter the new names, I select a ringtone by scrolling left or right in the space with the Notes icon. I press enter. Saving appears on the screen. Then - the phone always rings with the same ringtone (the master one set in the sounds menu) rather than with the distinctive tones set in the phonebook. I am only using the tones that came with the phone. Anyone else having trouble getting this feature to work or has Verizon disabled it for some reason on this phone? It worked fine on my old LG.

Double check to see if you included area codes on your phonebook entries, even if the area codes of your contacts are the same as your cellphone number's area code.

Same thing happened to me before on both the A650 and my old Kyocera.

Yes, the a670 supports distinctive rings for each person in your phone book. Ringtones for incoming calls can be either mid or pmd files. I think there is a limit of 20 installed ringtones.
