okay here is the situation. My mother has this phone which she broke the screen off so you can not see anything and she saved all her numbers to the phone instead of the SIMCard. I have the data cable and I need to get the phone numbers off the phone. pleeeeaaaaseee help. Thank you

What data cable do you have? Serial or usb? Is the cable you have compatible to X426? If the cable is usb, do you have the driver from supplier? If yes, you have to install the driver. To check if the driver is installed properly, go to Device Manager and check under Ports (COM & LPT) and see if you find a line like ... usb-to-serial ... (COMx), x can be number from 3 or higher. If you have serial cable, you don't need driver, just connect it to either COM1 or COM2.

You also need the S/W SGH-X426 PC Studio PIMS (ver.1.0) from Samsung:

Install PIMS and you have to change the setup (click File - setup), change Ports to COMx to match that of the usb driver. Also make sure speed is set at 115200. Close PIMS and restart it and if everything is setup properly, PIMS will detect your phone and the bottom status bar will display X426 instead of offline. If it display offline, it means something is wrong.

I went and bought the USB. It did not come with drivers though. I need to where to find them. I downloaded the PIMS.

Suggest you try the driver from Prolific first as it is more common than the OTI.
