I purchased a generic (non-oem) data cable on eaby for my a670. I'm running XP pro and have had success in the past with my old lg vx4400 and a data cable but on neither my laptop nor my desktop can i get my computer to recognize that the cable exists. I would call the cable defective, but what is weird is that the computer sees my phone (samsong usb composite device and samsung cdma modem), but i can't get the com port installed. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd appreciate any help.

Have you installed the driver for the usb cable? If you don't have one yet, you can try to download the driver from DataPilot or FutureDial web site.

    Thanks

Actually I had instlaled all the necessary drivers, at least the ones that would let me. My problem was I was used to using an old prolific cable which showed up in the device manager as a COM port, but with the motorola A670 and this charging cable, BITPIM 7.33 actually recognizes the COM port and phone without the computer seeing the cable. Works like a charm now though, thanx.
