I got a a680 and when i hooked it up they (carrier) told me that i cannot use a data cable to get my pics off my phone. So if thats true is there anyway around it without have to pay 50 cents a pic that my carrier will charge me to email it to myself? and they also told me that i can't upload pics, ringtones, apps or games thru a data cable?

BTW my carrier is MTS in Mantioba CANADA witch is CDMA

any feedback about this would be great.

I have an A680 (Sprint) and use a data cable and Bitpim and take pictures off my phone. I have never tried to upload a picture to the phone.

I suppose you could screw something up. I just right click on picture in Bitpim of the picture I want to save, and save it to hard drive. And then through phone delete the pictures I no longer want on phone.

You need to send the phone to Samsung to have it re-flashed. Any MTS retailer can send it off. It goes to a repair center in Ontario.

As for getting the pictures off the phone, this is what we are told. (Bell owns MTS, so the same probably applies) Pictures cannot be taken off the phone other than using the 1X network and e-mailing the pictures to an e-mail address straight from the phone.

That said, yes, there are certain programs that will let you get the pictures off the phones. As for uploading, as far as I know, it's not possible.

the phone went into offline mode after I got it wet...as per warranty restrictions, Bell in ontario, wont send it out due to liquid damage (I made the mistake of telling them) thats why I was wondering if the firmware was available online to do it myself. Is this possible?

Ahhhh, I see. Don't worry about making the mistake of telling them, they would have found out either way, as Samsung can, well, "test" the phone if it's been wet.

And as far as I know, nope, no firmware online. And if the phone got wet, even if it's dried out, the EEPROM could be toast, or other things, so re-flashing firmware may not even fix your problem.
