Hi all, so I have an A930, and I don't want to buy a new set of earbuds for the 2.5mm jack. So I bought a 2.5mm-3.5mm stereo adaptor from RadioShack and plugged my regular Shure earbuds in the adaptor. Here's the problem, when I'm playing music on my phone, I only get sound from the right ear, and if I pull the earbuds connector out a little bit, I get sound in both ears but it's mono, and if I pull it out more, I get sound in the left ear only. How can I get stereo sound in both ears?

normal head hpones do that to when thyre old, is the radioshaq peice gold plated, if not i would get something that is, it must look funny sticking out of the phone why not just get a good set of verison head phones, they have dual ear and regular, and some have a answer end call button on them, anywhere from $20 to $40

the store might not carry all that are on the website but try the site first, i think i got to it by thier vcast site. and then accessories

First of all, my Shure earbuds are not old, they are pretty new and they are worth $90, so I'm not going to get a set of headphones just for my phone. And the RadioShack adaptor is not gold-plated but I don't think that's relevant in this case.

Dude, have you heard Shure? the earbuds are not RadioShack, they are Shure, one of the highest end earbuds companies. The one I have is their lowest model, they highest model is $500.

    Re: A930 Headphone Jack Problem

where do you get the idea im ripping on your $90 headphones i dunno,

but i meant to say the peice that connects your 1.5mm to 2.5 mm (or w/e) is the problem because it isnt gold plated and not really made 100% good

you said before you got it at radioshack so i reffered to it as the radioshack peice, sorry.
and if that peice came with the head phones then you should of said so.\

    this is what i said
"damn strait if you earphones are $90 it HAS to be the radioshack peice"
i should of inserted a comma or something....
i was actually praising your head phones

no i dont know what shure is but you could of explained better in your first post that they are top notch

Sorry dude my bad, my apologies. But I don't think gold-plated matters in this case, sure, gold-plated connectors offers better quality, but in my case, I'm not even getting stereo sound at all. It's not a matter of quality at all, it's a matter of functionality.

    Re: A930 Headphone Jack Problem

If you want to skip my rant, go half way down. It’s an easy fix.
And now my IPod Headphone accessories work, not just the standard headset.
    About $3.00 plus $8.00 shipping <G>.

Radio Shack doesn't know what they are talking about.
I went to three and pretty much got the same type of answers.

On Jack size (none had decimal size listed, all fractions at each store)
“Can’t work”, “our 1/8 jack is not 2.5”.
    To <G>
“Must work”, “our 1/8 jack is the same as the 2.5”.

    “Must be your phone”

    “Must be Verizon proprietary”

    etc

I bought the 1/8 to 3/32 stereo conversion jack and had the same results the poster above had.
I was going to machine it to see if it just wasn’t seating deep enough.
    Glad I didn’t do that.

All their IPod stuff was 3/32 but is was third party (ie not Pod) and not listed as 3.5 the size IPod lists a supported. And one owner (yes each time I was talking to the store owner) told me the 3.5 was not and IPod or standard head set Jack.

    Solution:
The 930 has a four wire stereo output not the 3 wire or 2 wire you might expect. Your head set may only be 3 wire (count the isolators) but the exported signal is not lined up correctly.
That means the jack must have four isolated connections or you get mono or worse like nothing in the left or right channel.

Samsung makes a 2.5 to 3.5 Jack converter and works great.
I found it after about a Kazillion different web searches <G>.
    It model number Samsung AETS43CSEB/STD.

    I used Froogle
With “Samsung AETS43CSEB/STD” in the search
Or with “Samsung 2.5 to 3.5 Jack”.
Cut and paste if you like.
    Then sort by price.
There are more sources than I could research for about $3.00.
    Shipping was about $8.00 <G>.
I bought 3 for each of us in the family for about $20.00 with shipping.
    It took about a week.
    I happened to use Rocknrebates.com.

The real news is not that all 3.5 jack head sets now work, but that the IPod Head Set Jack Accessories work as well.

I did all this get my 930 to work as an FM transmitter to my car radio and it works great with a standard IPod headphone jack transmitter.

    Whoa ~ Joey from Blossom

What's all this talk of a FM transmitter? You dropped a bomb. Please explain. I'm curious. BTW, I went to Fry's last Friday and Coby had a product out: earbud with fm receiver. Cool idea but done half-assed. First, why make it one earbud? Stupid. Second, why not include an answer/send/pause button next to the inline microphone?! Third, why doesn't someone else besides Coby do this? Fourth, someone probably does but I'm too lazy to scope it out on the net.

BTW, the Verizon stereo headset is pretty cool. Fits snugly, sounds great, and is blue (my fav color). $29.99

    Peace

    Re: A930 Headphone Jack Problem

I just bought the cell phone adapter from Radio Shack this very day
to adapt my 3.5 mm head phones to 2.5mm.

Guess what, it may be as simple as making sure the connection where
the 3.5 go into the adapter is pushed allll the way in. Try it because I
experienced the same thing then I just pushed a little harder and It did
work. Hope it works for you. nettravelerknb
