I have the Samsung A900 on the Sprint network. I'm a frequent text messenger so I knew right away when the problem occurred, sometime in a few hour span today. I dropped mine phone, not very far, maybe about 3 feet onto a carpeted floor flat on its back. After this I noticed I was unable to send text messages, however I could still receive them. I had sent a text about an hour or two earlier and everything was fine. Now when I sent a text it said Message Failed and stayed in my outbox. I called Sprint Customer Service and was told to remove the battery for 2-5 minutes then put it back in. After doing this the phone was able to send text messages...but nobody ever received them. If I went into the outbox and hit resend the message would finally go through. Hours later my phone has stopped sending texts all together again. I get the same Message Failed screen every time I attempt sending. Do you think dropping the phone had anything to do with this? I've dropped it pretty hard on tile and wood floors two times before and everything was fine. Also, are there any ideas on how to fix it? I just started my contract back in June I hope I don't have to buy a new phone. Sorry for the length and thanks in advance!

    Re: Text Messaging Acting Up

Mine had a similar problem and i was able to correct it by making sure that i had put in the area code for the number for the person i was texting. When it stopped working, it was just like yours, but once i put in the area codes, it works now but only if the area code is in there. If its a number i have stored without the area code it won't work. Hope fully this helps

    Re: Text Messaging Acting Up

Well the number I was texting is in a different area code from me so I already had the area code in the phone. I did have a problem once though where her number stopped showing her name when she texted me. When I put a 1 in front of her area code it started working again. Then later in the day it went back to normal. It's weird though because every other feature still works on my phone (phone calls and online). If this was caused by dropping the phone is it possible that everything else would still work fine and just text messages could be broke?

it seems unlikely that only texting would be damaged. It would seem that any sending type of function would be messed up. Have you tried sending a picture to someone? Maybe the sending functionality is damaged somehow even though that to seems unlikely. I've dropped mine onto the concrete 4 or 5 times with no damage. Have you tried doing the update?

    Re: Text Messaging Acting Up

I just tried the update and it said no firmware update available. I also don't have the picture package so I can't send any pictures to anyone without signing up for another $5/month. Texts still aren't working today. Seems like the phone would be tougher than that also, I dropped my last phone on cement out of my lap in my truck a few times and on the floor a lot and it never broke. This would only be the 3rd time I dropped it and it was on carpet.

have you tried pulling the battery again and doing that trick? That seems like the only thing those useless twits at customer service tell people to do but if it worked once. My next suggestion would be to take it in to a store and let a tech guy there look at it.

Yeah I pulled it again last night and then put it back in and they were still failing. I think I'll have to take it in. Yeah I couldn't really understand the customer service woman either. A lot of static for Sprint lol. Thanks for your help!

Very strange, everything is working again today! Text messaging seems to be back to normal. Thanks again for your help!
