I just bought this phone, and I'm trying to figure out a way to send images and ring tones to it. I don't have internet access on it. So, if you have any knowledge of the Samsung SGH-c417, please let me know.

    -Any help is appreciated

I used Ringtone Creator to convert the Samsung C417 sample ringtones from .mmf to .mid and then transfered the files to the phone using a PCB133LBE 9-pin serial cable and Samsung PC Studio PIMS & File Manager Version 1.0.

So, if I have ring tones and images on my computer, that I want to put on to my phone, this will do it for me?

Also, I would plug in the cable into my phone, with the battery charger slot? And the other end goes into...?

    -Thanks for all your help.

Yes, I own a C417 and I have used this cable and software to transfer images, ringtones, and contacts.

Note that when you transfer files you must choose the Downloaded Graphics or Downloaded Ringtones folder on the phone.

Re: How to send files to a Samsung SGH-c417

Here is some additional information from SAMSUNG's Digital World - Support

How Do I Use My SGH-c417 As A Modem Or Transfer Data Between It And My Computer?

PC Studio data kit (Product ID: PKT433) for your handset includes PC Studio 1.0 PIMs & File Manager (build EE2) and serial data cable (Product ID: PCB133LBE). This software will allow you to manage your phone's data. You may utilize the built-in import tool to bring data from Outlook into the phone, upload custom ringers and images into the phone via the serial cable listed above. Regarding transfer of MP3 files, they can be downloaded from the internet onto the handset however the handset has a size limitation for MP3s (under 300K). Please keep in mind that the PC Studio 1.0 software will not allow for direct synchronization with Microsoft Outlook.

Also, with the use of the Internet Access Wizard within the PC Studio software, the phone can be used as a modem for your PC or laptop. Connections speeds will be limited due to physical limitation of serial architecture under 115K.

<ignore>...We do not offer a USB solution as the processor is not compliant to those specifications. <ignore>...The software is only compatible on PC's.
