Defective Samsung slider???

I have a Samsung A737 Slider, and ive had some problems with it. I seem to have really good service but they bars telling me how good my service is turn grey and i can't text or call anybody. This happens 20 - 30 times a day. Is my phone defective

maybe you should try sending it back, i had a problem with a dif phone once adn they gave me a new one
