    Depends on which carrier and which phone.

    Some carriers offer specific features through their online account management system.

    Some other phones allow users to limit the ability to block "ALL" calls, calls from "CONTACTS", and some other devices may even allow you to block specific numbers...right from the handset, though this is rare.

    Alltel will allow you to block and unblock specific numbers, and you can do it right from the handset. I just don't remember how to do it offhand, as it's been more than a year since I did it. At least they didn't charge to do it like some companies do.

    It's free from VZW, which now owns most of Alltel anyway. It's a recent feature they added, like "family and friends," so perhaps this was a way to satisfy some Alltel customers who would otherwise lose the feature if VZW didn't add it.
