Samsung Jack Messenger "other email" issue

I just got a Samsung Jack replacing my BlackJack II. I used a non-hotmail.com - live.com email signing in and it worked fine on my black jack II. On the Jack, it gives an option to use an "other email address" in my case ending in @charter.net. It lets you choice other address on the domain list and type in the email in the email address field and of course the password, when you hit sign-in, it goes to a screen with a big red X saying Invalid e-mail address or password. It doesn't even try to sign in. I tested it with an email address that ended in hotmail.com and it worked. How do I use my charter.net email address? (I am using the right password too)

Is it because I am using the one that came with the phone? I did wonder if there was an additional or replacement app i could download but I could not find it. Is there one i need to be using that will solve this?
