I have a Samsung Sunburst (Love it btw) and I would like to play video's on it.
Using Avidemux I have figured out that I need to convert them to 320x240 mp4's, but I never seem to get sound on them.
Does anybody have any success making video's work on the Sunburst?

Yes I have your answer, in a word, Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate. I spent a few hours trying to figure out what the best converting / encoding program for creating videos for playback on my Samsung Sunburst. It turns out the absolute best program for getting the job done is (Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate) send me a private message if you need help finding out where to find this program. Once you have that program add your source video file, it supports all formats, avi, mkv, mp4, vob or dvd, wmv, mpeg, etc etc. Now for the video you want to create under Profile select Mobile Phone and under that select Blackberry MPEG-4 Video (.mp4) Now in the upper right hand corner where it says "Profile Settings" click the arrow to show advanced profile settings, this will allow you to customize every setting to create the perfect mp4. I am going to tell you the best settings for your .mp4 for your Sunburst phone. Listed below are only the settings you need to change...

    Video Size: Select 320x240
Bitrate: Select 512 or 640, anything lower than 512 will lose noticeable quality, and anything higher than 640 or maybe even 768 is kind of pointless because the phone can't really play any quality higher than that.
Frame Rate: Select 23.97 or 24, that is the source frame rate for 99% of videos, some versions of Xilisoft have the default at 15, which will be a noticeable loss, so you want to make sure you set the frame rate to 23.97 or 24 everytime.
Zoom: Select Pan and Scan. Now this one is important because if you leave it at the default setting or Letterbox, your video will most likely play with black bars on the top and bottom of the video screen, which really just makes most videos look too small, selecting (Pan and Scan) will use your Sunbursts entire screen when tilted sideways and when you are playing it on your phone goto options, and select Fullscreen, otherwise there will be black bars on the left and right sides of the video, but you should only have to choose this setting once because the Sunburst remembers your settings from the last video and will play the next one in Fullscreen. You want to make sure you select Pan and Scan everytime.
Audio: Now you can't change the audio encoder, which is actually good for the Sunburst, because the default audio is mpeg4aac and that is what your phone needs to play the audio properly, now you can change the bitrate though for higher audio quality.
Bitrate: I usually select 96 for audio bitrate, but I have the Sunburst headphones, and I've found that 96 is the optimal bitrate, 128 is even better, but 96 is really good too.
Disable Audio: FALSE. Now since you want sound in your video, that is the problem you were having with whichever other converting program you were using, always make sure Disable Audio is set to FALSE otherwise your videos will be silent. You shouldn't have to change this since false is the default setting.

Now just browse for the folder you want to save your Sunburst .mp4 files to and you are good to go, just click the red convert button or go to Actions->Convert Checked Items.

It's a great encoding program, it's fast, and you can make clips or just select a start time and duration in Advanced Profile Settings if you only want to put a clip of a video on your phone, and it will create fullscreen high quality videos for your Sunburst phone. I have also included a screenshot below of the settings I described above so you can match yours with it, just copy all the settings I use and you should be all good, hope this helped.

PS: I love the Sunburst too, it's a great little mp3 and video player, the one thing I wasn't thrilled about was that you need headphones that plug into the same place your charger does. However if you don't already have headphones for you Sunburst, I'm guessing you will want some if you are playing videos, I found a great deal on really good headphones for the Sunburst. Samsung sells the exact same ones on their website for $24.99, however this other site I found sells them for $6.76 and no shipping and handling. I received mine 3 days after I ordered them and they are great, and they double as a hands-free headset since there is a microphone attached to the cord. Check it out if you could use them here is the link. OEM mp3 EarPhones/HeadPhones FOR AT&T SAMSUNG SunBurst -

    Re: Samsung Sunburst and video?

    Thanx for your response!
As for the software you're using, it looks interesting but I'm using Ubuntu in stead of Windows and even though I love that I changed last year sometimes it sux that I need Windows for specific software to run.
I use the free Avidemux which is great in many ways but doesn't have the ability to set the encoding to specific phones.
Thank you for letting me know that the audio encoding needs to be mpeg4aac though.
I'm sure some of the other information will come in handy when I try to encode a video again.

As for head phones... yeah I hated that too that I can't just plug in a 3.5mm jack, but I found that I can find adapters for under $5.00 (free shipping) on e-bay so those saved my day there.
Though I think I might just look into getting that head set you're linking because of the microphone
