I just bought a Samsung Gravity 2 off ebay. I primarily text and am not especially interested in music, photos, etc.

After 6 weeks I hit 500 text messages, and since then I've been battling the phone. I have to delete messages several times a day. I thought that moving them to a folder might help; I thought that if I put a microSD card in there, it might let me move them. I even tried Bluetooth.

Did Samsung really make a phone with an arbitrary limit of 500 messages!? The phone's internal memory has at least 76 mb free, which has got to be good for thousands of messages. Is there not any way to back up texts or offload them to a memory card?

Man, what a horrible user-interface decision that was. I use texts like email. Obviously I keep all my emails. Why would I not want to keep my texts?

thanks for any suggestions. (I know, I know: Get a new, non-Samsung phone.)

You cannot save text messages on a memory card for your phone.
Visit Samsung US | TVs ? Tablets ? Smartphones ? Cameras ? Laptops ? Refrigerators for more info.
I use Google voice; All my text msg & voice mgs are online & my HTC EVO 4G.

Thanks, camstuf. I couldn't find any other way, but I was hoping that someone had a trick I didn't see. (I'm still hoping!)

That's a phenomenally bad design decision. What were they thinking?

I use GV, too, so that's a good option. But I don't like the way GV splits up messages, typically creating 3 messages out of two. And I haven't pushed everyone to text me on GV. But I guess it's time (unless I want to buy a real phone).

    anyway, thanks.

Google voice settings allow for text to be viewed on the site.
    No other effort needed.
