Hey Everyone.
My mother is going to be cancelling our family plan with Verizon that is just outrageous in terms of taxes, fees, and just overall the $200+/month bill... UGH
She, I believe, will be switching to Straight Talk and the prepaid monthy plans with no contract.
I would like to be able to basically kind of do the same thing, except maybe with T-Mobile or SimpleTalk, or another carrier that allows unlocked phones to get plans with SIM cards.
Here is my question:
What version of the Galaxy S3 do I get that makes the most sense for staying within the US and paying the cheapest price?
I can either buy the International Edition which I know is unlocked (but it is Quad Band i believe). How would the international phone work on the DATA coverage in the US? What can I expect?
I can buy the US edition when it comes out from AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon at full retail price and then proceed to unlocked it after. Does this make sense? Will this edition be better in terms of coverage for DATA within the US? If I buy the Verizon one, does it still work with GSM so I can unlock it? What about AT&T/T-Mobile. How do I unlock it?
Thanks so much!
Mackenzie

Re: Getting the S3
I can't help you with the overall picture, but I can definetly tell you that the LTE version of the phone won't be as fast (core speed) as the GSM ones because CDMA isn't compatable with LTE phones. Weird I know, but you can verify by googling it. I'm using the nexus right now and I originally wanted to upgrade, but looking at the reviews, upgrading from nexus to s3 is not worth the few extra hundred bucks.

I offer Straight Talk on my website, Hildretech.
You can use any AT&T or T-Mobile phone with this service. For information on that, click here.
You can also use an unlocked phone, but since frequencies can vary, it's easiest to purchase an AT&T or T-Mobile phone. If you do that, you won't need to worry about unlocking the device. You simply purchase the appropriate SIM card, through Straight Talk.
