I have a factory unlocked GSM/ CDMA Galaxy Note II.

I had intended to use it on simple mobile, but they operate @ 1700 mhz...........this phone shows 800-900- 1900-2100....or something like that.

    NO 1700.....................

Is there a tweak or an app to make the phone compatible with the 1700 band??

    BTW....get a signal but data is 'E'...............bummer.
May have to switch to AT&T prepaid.........the phone runs (speed test) at about 3.xx down/ 2.xx up with H+ showing.

    Help??

All input appreciated..........tell me what you've tried or heard?

    Happy Thanksgiving all............Ol'Ben

    Re: Apps for Note II.............???

If the phone doesn't have 1,700 Mhz built in, there isn't anything you can do to make it support that frequency. There isn't an application that you can download that would "enable" it since it is not in the phone itself.

It looks like you're getting EDGE speeds currently, which is why you're seeing an "E". When you mentioned an "H+" is that when you see the phone on AT&T's network?

You can look up some providers that use AT&T's network. Straight Talk is one of them. You can get a SIM card to put in the phone that will work on their network. Red Pocket Mobile might be another provider that uses AT&T's network.

    Re: Apps for Note II.............???

I pretty much figured that...but I needed confirmation.

Thanks for the reply.........I'm now trying AT&T prepaid and getting their H+ which they call their "4G"......??

Without LTE the speeds are around 3.xx down/ 2.xx up...........works ok for a traveling hotspot so I'll be happy for a while.

I'll even check out red pocket......that's a new one to me.

    Happy Thanksgiving all.....God Bless America!

I'm not sure if HSPA+ is really 4G, they might called it "4G speeds". I know they were doing that a while back before they were building out their LTE network.

Let me know what you think about Red Pocket Mobile after you take a look.

    Re: Apps for Note II.............???

You're right.....AT&T 'calls' H+ their 4g.......it ain't. Without LTE it has no 'go power'(pun intended)
It doesn't take much looking at red pocket to see they don't offer enuff for the price. Only 1 Gig of data?
Everyone seems to top that package.

I'll keep AT&T prepaid whilst I shop around. They have been talking LTE for a while. That would sweeten the package a bit.

I'd like to hear from some 'Boost' users as well as other prepaid plans.....with 5Gig? data(unlimited??)
    Thanks much.....

    Merry Christmas to everyone!!

    Re: Apps for Note II.............???

Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile offer unlimited data, with reduced speeds after 2.5 GB. If you're in a 4G area, I believe it is truly unlimited. That is 4G WiMax though, not LTE. If you don't have 4G in your area, the regular 3G network will be around 1.4 Mbps or less, so I don't think you would be happy with that. Sprint is known for slow data speeds, and Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile both run on Sprint's network. If you want unlimited at a good price, that would be one of the best options.

Is there Cricket or MetroPCS in your area? They both offer unlimited data. They both have 4G LTE now too.

There is a company called LG Voyager Mobile running on Sprint's network. They claim to have unlimited data on Sprint's 4G LTE network. You might be interested in that. I haven't talked with anyone that has experience with using that company, so I highly recommend you look for some reviews.

We do have Cricket in this area. I didn't know they offered 4G LTE tho.

    Who's towers do they use?

My PC friend use to work for Cricket, I'm thinking. I'll pump him for some info.

    Thanks.....

Cricket has their own network, and also has service on Sprint's network where they don't have towers themselves. If you're in an area where Sprint has their own towers, 4G LTE might be available, or might be coming available soon. They've been working on it for a while now and are just starting to come out with some 4G phones. They have a more basic Android device for around $200 and the Samsung Galaxy S III both with 4G LTE. Their coverage map will now show where they have 4G.
