I'm currently thinking about purchasing the Sanyo Katana, but reading reviews of it has me a bit confused.

I see that it has MP3 capabilities, as well as bluetooth, but when one person posted on the topic below mine it said that you can't listen to MP3s.

Does that just mean you can't straight listen to them?

I want to be able to cut my own ringtones on my computer, and send them to my phone via the bluetooth... is that possible?

    Thanks for all the help!

    SANYO > Wireless Handsets

    I see nothing about mp3
Nor do I see anything about ready link. I can't find a phone that has ready link and is blue tooth compatible. I had to spend an extra $70.00 and get the stupid Jabra box thingy.

You can see where it says mp3... unless im wrong..

mod edit: there's no need to clutter the thread by pasting an entire web page here, just quote the part that applies to the topic and provide a link.

    Re: Sanyo Katana

The Katana doesn't have an mp3 player. It only has 5MB of memory and no expandable memory slot. I think it's a very nice looking phone with a large display, but it's lacking a lot of features. They could have at least given it a 1MP camera and a little more memory.

I think the mp3 reference was possibly referring to ringtones...

On the same page you quoted it saying that it supported MP3s, it says "These Sanyo KATANA specifications can not be guaranteed accurate. Before buying a phone, please double check the availability of any feature that is important to you on the manufacturer's web site."

    Re: Sanyo Katana

The only real thing that turned me off about this phone was the whole sanyo blocking the file transfer and other cool bluetooh options, i bought this phone for myself and my girlfriend so that we could both have nice phones, and make our own ringtones, now after the fact I find out that sprint had sanyo disable all that cool junk because they want us to purchase it from them. That's cheap. Someone needs to find a program that will allow users to tap into the phone and change the settings, I for one tried to use BitPim (which really did no good anyway so), to upload ringers to our phones, and it said that I couldn't. If anyone knows a way to get ringtones on to my phone without using the whole text message method (because we don't have the unlimited texting plan). That would really be helpful. I know I probably shouldn't post it, but please if you do know how i can do this, give me a call. My cell phone number is (315)-383-4576, and my real name is Brad.

Thank you to anyone who attempts to help me out.
