I bought one at the sprint pcs store, it cost about 30 dollars.

There's a saying "You get what you pay for." I would question why a cable would cost $30 at one place and 99-cents at another. The key thing to know is that the connector into the phone is where the quality should be. There are quality connectors and crappy connectors. There's nothing more aggravating than to get a great deal, and then find out it was a great deal because it doesn't work. Either invest the time and do a lot of research or just grit your teeth and shell out the $.
