So far, these appear to work ONLY on Sanyo 8100's that use Sprint service. Qwest 8100's do not seem to connect.

Anyone else have any better ideas for sync software that works with Qwest phones?

I have a Sanyo 8100 phone, purchased from Qwest, but it is branded "Sprint". Tried Susteen Datapilot with no luck - it would not recognize the phone on either a Win 98SE or Win XP machine. Susteen tech support told me I was out of luck since they would not support Qwest phones. I could not see where that made any difference since I had not even activated the phone on the network yet.

I've had good luck with SnapSync from FutureDial although it requires me to go through a "manual" procedure to identify the phone. It flawlessly downloaded my contact list from Outlook to the phone and has some nice sync features. Their tech support assured me that the network provider (Qwest or Sprint) had no bearing as to whether their product would work. I can highly recommend the FutureDial people. Their products are available via Radio Shack, CompUSA, and others.

No luck whatsoever dealing with representatives from Qwest, Sprint, or Sanyo. They all point fingers at each other. Sprint told me that I could not make any downloads work unless I subscribed to PCS Vision (blatantly false since I do not). Sanyo said their only support for the phone was via Sprint. Qwest just seemed to be totally in the dark about any features of the Sanyo 8100.

Sorry for the lengthy post - I am a newbie to this but just wanted to impart the information that I gathered. I'll be trying the FutureMedia product soon to attempt to download and upload photos to/from the phone. Would appreciate any other users comments about their experience.

Neither Sprint nor Sanyo will sell you pc syncing software. They will most likely not acknowledge its existence. So this raises the question, "Why the hell did they make pc syncing a part of their phones?"

Other companies like FutureDial are making a bundle selling cables and software for syncing all kinds of phones. It's not highway robbery because it's not too expensive (But it ain't free, either!). They've gone out and done all the legwork in figuring out how to get the different phones' data, etc.

John Q. Public just wants some ringtones and wallpapers/screensavers. John don't want to pay FutureDial prices for just that! So what does John do?

John gets himself a cable online for a few bucks (I've seen them for the Sanyo 8100 for as little as $7). John downloads some drivers for free from FutureDial.com if he has to. Then John goes and downloads BitPim for free from http://www.bitpim.org

Turn OFF your phone, plug it into your cable, plug your cable into your PC, turn your phone back ON and *BOOM*, it should start installing the drivers on your PC.

The BitPim software is very "beta", meaning that it's not perfect and it's not finished, but it works great for what you need to do. You can upload/download your phonebook, calendar, ringtones and pictures (camera)/wallpapers (screensavers) to/from your pc.

I have a sanyo8100 and I downloaded the bitpim program but when I try to upload wallpaper it is greyed out I cannot access it. Why?

I want to get ringtones but I don't want to have to go on the browser. I'm reading about USBs to connect your phone to the computer. If that would work, great! But I have no idea where or what to get. If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

meg, the usb cable works just fine if your on sprint. on bell however, they had the menu where the ringtones u upload by cable end up removed, so you cant see or use them. so if u r on sprint i say go search on ebay, i got mine for 15 dollars canadian including shipping, so just search around till u find one thats cheap AND doesnt have outragouse (i think i *****d that rong) shipping fees.

i've got a Sanyo MM-7500, how to i put the ringtones on it? PLease help, i've tried everything, maybe im using the wrong program...Bitpim...i dunno, does anyone have any suggestions?
