Anyone know where I could find a program to upload images/screensavers/ringtones directly from a pc to my phone? I don't want to pay the $1/each sprint fee. I have the data cable, just need the software

There is no software to directly download via cable from your PC... but as these folks have pointed out... there are many sites that you could use to download for free... or even create your own since sprint used a (mostly) open standard for its download implementation... The whole reason for the download fee doens't have to do with the download itself, but the ringer or image that was created by someone with copyright rights.... If you find a midi on the net you like... and then upload it yourself... then that frees up the responsiblity from the service providers...

What exactly is the data cable for, if it doesn't come with software? I have seen the cable for sale but I am still uncertain what it is good for.

http://www.sprintusers.com is a site that I absolutely love. They have a service (for free) called Focus located at http://www.sprintusers.com/focus that lets you upload whatever files to your phone. I've used it to upload pictures & ringers with no problems.

HEY, on the 8100, I went to wap.aliansystems.com from my phoen and they have bunch of free ringtones. But when I click one, it plays, but there is no option to save it. Does anyone know how to save it? They are midi files. Is the phoen unable to save it?

Sprint phones cannot save midi files without a general content descriptor(gcd). Bascially it is a text file that the phone reads to get the info (website, name, and size of file) for the download. There are ways to create these, but you'd be better off trying one of the free 3rd party sprint ringtone sites. For example, mbuzzy.com.
