I'm having a debate with my boyfriend. I am asserting that it is stupid to allow a stranger to borrow your cell phone, especially if they take it with them out of your sight.

Earlier this evening at a bar he let some strange woman use his phone. At one point she disappeared with it into the men's room. When she re-emerged he approached her and asked for it back. Then, for the next hour he could not make outgoing calls and was receiving a message that said "Emergency services only".

He justifies his actions as just being nice, however I find them to be incredibly stupid and naive. She was out of sight with his phone for at least 5-10 minutes. What kind of havoc could she have created during that time?

He thinks he is in the clear because there are no outgoing texts or calls on his logs, but my thought is that is that she could have just erased these from the log (which even a 5-year old could manage to do.) Why would she borrow his phone than not use it - that makes the lack of call/text on the log even more suspicious in my mind.

I just want to know what kind of things she could have done with his phone so my bf can get a reality check and not lend his phone out to a stranger next time.

    -K

The carrier is AT&T, through their pay as you go service, GoPhone plan. I'll have to get back to you on the model as I'm unsure. I believe it may be a Nokia.

you guys should try to backup all your info then just do a general reset and a master clear, cause its gonna whipe out everything. (make sure contacts are saved on the sim)
so its at&t, gsm is alot more easier to do crazy stuff. I remember i'd always had my bluetooth on and one day I got a incoming alert, I accept the alert, and got a virus. It was sending text like crazy to all my contacts, after I did that whole reset thing, It stoped.
heared of a bluetooth hack? it connects to a phone around you and the hacker can pretty uses his phone as a control for your phone, deleting info, opening, pix, and even making a call. (I use this with my friends ONLY, cause i'm a good person)
all this doesnt happen as much in CDMA phones.
