First, welcome to CPF (for those of you that don't know, CPF stands for CellPhoneForums. You will see CPF referred to a lot here, so that is what it means)
This is a great place to be! Not only can you find all sorts of useful information, but can also get help with your current Wireless Phone problems. So Welcome!
To better assist you, and to better answer your question, please remember the following information
1) Phones are broken down by Manufacturer. So please post your question in the right area.
2) When asking for assistance, please make sure to include the model of your phone in your post. Just because it's a Samsung, Nokia, Motorola; that doesn't help narrow down what the problem is.
Phone models can be so different from one another, that a post like "why doesn't my software install on my Samsung phone work?" doesn't help us answer it.
3) Typing in CAPS LOCK won't help get your question answered. Actually, it might do just the opposite. Personally, I'm less likely to answer a a question to someone who typed in all caps because it's annoying. It's like you're yelling to get the answer.
4) Please show respect. You're here probably because you need help with your phone. Being bossy, demanding, or insulting isn't needed. This is a forum for adults, so please act like one.
You may notice some stuff on and around CPF that you don't normally see on most other sites and forums.
Left Side Bar
There are some great things about the left side bar. Look and you'll see. It took me some time to figure out what it all meant, so I'm hoping this will save you some head scratching
Basic Member Info / Status / Aviator
This is the Members Name, status of that member (Member, Moderator, Super Moderator, ect), and their aviator
Cell Info and Providor
This shows the current phone that the member is using (modified through the "Your Profile" page) and the current Cellular provider that member is using.
Posts & Rep Power
This shows how many posts that member has made. This also shows the members Rep Power (Or Reputation power). The higher it is, the more likely that the information given is going to be accurate.
Remember: just because someone has a low Post / Rep Power, don't assume that the person responding doesn't know what they are talking about. We all start off at the same level, and Rep Power takes time to build.
CPF $ & Donate
The CPF $ is CellPhoneForum's dollars. This allows you, the member, to purchase some neat addons to your profile. When you post, you get CPF $'s. The more you post, the more CPF $'s you make!
The "Donate" is a nice feature. If somebody really went out of their way to help answer your question or helped you out, then why not donate a few hundred to them? After all, we're all here to help one another.
This will show up at the bottom of every post. I have pushed everything closer together to make it all fit on one screen.
Left to Right
Online Indicator - Shows you if the member is currently on the CPF website
Report Post - Use this to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.
One Click Postings - Allows you to post notes, add links, and Twit quickly and easily!
Did you find this post helpful? Probably one of the most important buttons / questions on the bottom bar. Green + means yes, Red - means no. By clicking "Yes", this does a few things.
One, it shows other users of CPF that this question has helped with your problem, and if somebody has a similar problem, that this might help fix their issue.
It also helps build the Rep's power. The more Yes' that he/she gets, the better their reputation becomes!
That's CPF in a nutshell. I hope this helps all the new members out there understand what all these things are. Have a great day!
