    T610 = T-Mobile

    afaik they're essentially the same. I personally have better experience with T-Mo service.

    heres whats up:

    t610: 900/1800/1900 GSM.
    t616: 850/1800/1900 GSM.

    t616 will only work on the network specified and so will the t610. the t616 works on cingular att and others. t610 works on t-mo and others.

    They are both pretty much the same phone. Just from differant companys. I would go with the t610 because its from T-mobile. Your all around service is going to be better since At&t is now owned by cingular and tmobile is getting ready to buy out all of there towers in the Ca. area and they are not going to have roaming agreements on t-mobile towers. The only reason i know is cause i work in tmobile call center and we just got the info about a month ago about the perchase of the towers.

    You work at a t-mo call-center? COOL. T-Mo has the best customer service of ANY cell-provider I've had in the last 10 years.

    based on what? They're electrically identical, only difference is RF, where the T610 works with T-Mo GSM and the T616 with ATTWS GSM frequencies.

    With the phones being identical, go for the better service provider. IMHO, that's TMo.

    Seeing as how you don't plan on traveling, you should go with T616 because it has the additional North American band (850mhz). This will help you out with reception in certain (urban) areas. I’d also recommend Cingular over AT&T.
