    Re: should i get the w810i?

    haven't heard TOO many occurrences., but problems so far;

    1. WSOD, in frequent?
    2. shortcuts resetting (usuall initial 10powercycles clears this up)., fyi, my S710a & W600 did this, but my W810i hasn't.

    Um, frankly THAT'S it. Other than that., it's so beautiful

    Re: should i get the w810i?

    Guys you should be carefull when getting the phone. I got mine abt 1 month ago. Used it for 1 week or so, after changing sim card, switch on the phone. Black screen. Can charge the phone but no display. Send back to the dealer. They said the board fried. very technical. Got replacement(the so call motherboard) after 1 month. I bought the w810i with the Da Vinci wall paper. but the new board cannot support the wall paper.

    The tech guy say the board is the new version cannot support Da vinci code wall paper. I think the guy the bulls****** me. The tech guy also told me that the board is from Hongkong.

    Could anyone verify or know how to know that the board is original from sony. Obviously, they are not telling me.

    I'm going to get that phone too. 380 bucks is a lot but I figure it's so good that even if all the technology advances before it breaks, it'll still be, up to date...

    I'm trying to figure out if I should purchase this phone online or direct @ Cingular. Can you tell me exactly what UNLOCK EVERYTHING means? Does this mean you can access all functionality if you purchase online that you can if you purchase from Cingular?

    thank for your help!

    I saw your other post, so you already know that it's not carried by Cingular, yet. Word now is that it may come out through Cingular by Oct. But then that's just what it is. I think what what bubbletea meant is that when a cell phone is made from the manufacturer it is essentially unlocked. When a provider decides to carry a certain cell phone it becomes locked to that specific provider. So when you hear people talking about unlocking a phone, it just means you are lifting the restrictions that were placed from the carrier/provider. So now you can use the phone on any GSM network.

    Just remember that when you purchase an unlocked phone you have to put in the settings for mobile web and MMS messaging.

    the local Cingular store has it in their computer for availability as September. I know this doesn't guarantee September but it seems to mean (to me) that they will be carrying it.

    Re: should i get the w810i?

    Yeah, it says at Sept 21. But, you never know. If you're getting an unlocked W810 right now, you probably don't have to worry about the "dropped calls" issue. Usually it's a good idea to wait 6 months after its release for Cingular, so that the bugs will be worked out. Otherwise, I think it's a great phone. So I'm probably going to sell my 1 week old 6682 .

    lol...functionality is only with modding the firmware.

    unlock everything is just a figure of speech. Any gsm phone can be unlocked.
