Data Back Up
Backing Up Applications:
- From any home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Personal", tap "Backup & reset"
- Mark the check box next to "Backup my data"
- Tap "Backup account" and choose a backup account. NOTE: you can tap "Add account" as an alternative, and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new account
Backing Up Contacts:
- Tap the "Phone" icon located on the home screen
- Tap the "Contacts" icon located in the top-left corner of the screen
- Touch the "Menu" icon situated in the bottom-right corner
- Tap "Back up Contacts"
- Perform one of the following sets of steps:
- To back up data to the SIM Card:
- Tap "SIM card"
- Choose the contacts that you wish to back up, or tap "Mark all"
- Tap "Back up"
- If / when prompted, select "Add contacts" or "Replace all contacts"
- Tap "OK" if necessary
- To back up to the SD card:
- Tap "SD card"
- Press "OK" to confirm
- To back up data to the SIM Card:
Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Tap the "Applications" icon located on the home screen
- Scroll to and tap "Settings"
- Tap "Storage"
- Select "Transfer data to SD card"
Backing UP Media Files Using a Windows Computer:
- Use the USB cable to connect your Xperia C to your computer
- On the PC, an AutoPlay window should appear. Click to browse the files and folders located on your phone
- Double-click "Internal storage"
- Navigate to where the desired media files are located
- Copy the files from the phone's internal storage
- Navigate to where you wish to back up the files on your computer's HDD
- Paste the files in the desired location
- Once the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
- Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
- You can now disconnect your smartphone
Restoring Data
Restoring Applications:
- Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
- Open "Settings"
- Go to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
- Tap "Backup account" and select the desired account
- Mark the "Automatic restore" check box
Restoring Contacts:
- Tap the "Phone" icon located on the home screen
- Tap the "Contacts" icon situated in the upper-left corner
- Touch the "Menu" icon in the lower-right area of the screen
- Tap "Import contacts" and perform one of the following:
- To restore contacts from the SIM card: Select the entry that you want to import, or tap "Import all"
- To restore contacts from the SD card:
- Tap "SD card"
- Choose the vCard file that you want to import
- Press "OK"
Restoring Media Files From a Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your Xperia C and computer via USB
- In the AutoPlay window on your computer, click to explore the device's files and folders
- Access the phone's "Internal storage"
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the media files have been backed up on your computer
- Copy the desired files, and paste them on your phone's storage
- Once the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray
- Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
- Disconnect your smartphone from your PC
