WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will result in loss of personal data stored on the device's internal memory. This includes downloaded content, 3rd party apps, custom ringtones, contacts and personal photos. Content stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

NOTE: before applying a factory reset in order to fix potential issues with your device, you might want to clear the cache partition first. Unlike a factory reset, wiping the cache will not result in data loss. To learn how to clear the Xperia T2 Ultra's cache, visit this link for a full guide.

Master Resetting From the Settings Menu:

    1. If necessary and / or possible, back up the data stored on your phone's internal storage
    2. While on the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
    3. Tap "Settings"
    4. Under "Personal", tap "Back up & reset"
    5. Clear the "Automatic restore" check box
    6. Tap "Factory data reset" under "Personal Data"
    7. Tap "Reset phone"
    8. Assuming that you have screen lock enabled on your device, you will be required to enter your password or PIN, and tap "Continue"
    9. Tap "Erase everything" to confirm

    Master Resetting Using Hardware Keys:

NOTE: master resetting using hardware keys does not work on the Xperia T2 Ultra. However, if your smartphone is frozen or isn't powering on, you can perform the following steps:

    1. Press and hold the "Volume up" and "Power" buttons simultaneously
    2. Keep holding the buttons for about 10 seconds, or until the smartphone vibrates three times
    3. After the phone vibrates a third time, release the buttons
    4. Press the power button and reboot your phone in normal mode

    Forcing a Shut Down:

In case your smartphone is frozen and won't turn off even if you keep holding the power button, you can perform a forced shut down. To do this:

    1. Detach the micro SIM card slot cover
    2. Use the tip of a pencil or a similar object to press and hold the "OFF" button. NOTE: do not use a sharp, hard object that would damage the button.
    3. Keep pressing the button until the smartphone shuts down
    4. Try rebooting your phone in normal mode
