How can I save and view maps offline?

Is there a site that has a relatively simple procedure that I can follow that will allow me to save, view or even delete Google maps that I want to use offline? I have tried to follow directions on different sites, as well as the Help section on my cell phone, but there is always something that is just not quite the same on my phone or is missing. My cell phone is Xperia M v4.3 Everytime I pick a map that I want to save to use offline, I can't seem to scroll to the proper location. Thanks.

Is there anyone that has saved a map to be used offline on their phone? How did you do it? I find it hard to believe that no one can help me!

have you tried this?

1. Open Google Maps and search for the area you want to cache (or just zoom in on it)
2. Tap the search bar
3. Type "Okay Maps" in the search bar
4. Tap the search
5. You'll be asked if you want to "save this map", click save at the bottom to save

Thanks for your response! When I typed "Okay Maps" and tapped search, I wasn't asked to 'save this map'...I got a list of places that resembled what I typed. In the past, I have been able to save maps, but not under the title 'save to be used offline'.
