How-to: Sony Xperia Z3: Restore Personal Data

Restoring Applications:

1. From the home screen tap "Apps"
2. Go to "Settings"
3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
4. Tap "Backup account" and select the account on which the backup has been created
5. If necessary, tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen prompts to add the backup account
6. Mark the "Automatic restore" check box

Restoring Contacts:

1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
2. Scroll to and tap "Backup & restore"
3. Tap "Restore data now"
4. Mark the check boxes associated with "Contacts"
5. Tap "Continue"
6. After the process is done, tap "Finish"

Restoring Media Files

From Your Smartphone:

1. While viewing a home screen, tap "Apps"
2. Find and tap "File Commander"
3. Tap "SD Card"
4. Navigate to the files you want to transfer
5. Mark the check boxes associated with the files you wish to restore
6. Tap the "Copy" button located at the bottom of the screen
7. Go to the File Commander's main screen
8. Tap "Internal storage"
9. Select the target folder you wish to restore your files in
10. Tap the icon depicting a notepad next to a pen
11. Tap "Paste"

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

1. Connect your Sony Xperia Z3 to your computer via USB
2. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click to browse the phone's files and folders
3. Access the "Internal storage" directory
4. Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up media files on your PC's HDD
5. Copy the files, and transfer them on your phone's internal memory
6. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
7. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
8. Safely disconnect your Xperia Z3 from the PC
