Backing Up Applications:

  1. From any home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Open the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
  4. Mark the "Backup my data" check box
  5. Tap "Backup account" and select a backup account. If necessary, tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen steps to add an account

Backing Up Contacts:

  1. Launch the apps drawer and tap "Backup & restore"
  2. Mark the "Contacts" check box. Optionally, mark the check boxes next to "Call log" and "Conversations" as well
  3. Tap "Continue" and press "Finish" when the backup is done

Media File Backup

Backing Up Media Files Using the Smartphone:

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch "File Commander"
  2. Tap "Pictures" or "Videos"
  3. Tap "Camera" and mark the files you wish to transfer
  4. Tap "Copy" from the bottom of the screen
  5. Navigate to the File commander's main screen and select "SD Card"
  6. Choose the folder that you wish to use for backing up the media files
  7. Tap the button depicting a notepad with a pen and select "Paste"

Backing Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Use the USB cable to establish a connection between the Xperia Z3 Compact and Windows PC
  2. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, double-click to browse the phone's files
  3. Access the phone's "Internal storage" directory
  4. Navigate to the media files you wish to back up
  5. Copy the files from your phone's internal memory, and paste them in the desired backup location on your computer
  6. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray
  7. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  8. You can now safely disconnect your Xperia Z3 Compact from the computer
