Using iTunes:

NOTE: If you have iTunes installed on your computer, you can use the software to sync the contacts stored on your iPhone to your Google account. Afterwards, you can easily re-sync the contacts from the account with your Sony Xperia E3. To do so:

  1. Open iTunes on your computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to your PC via USB
  3. Once connected, the iPhone should appear in iTunes
  4. Click your phone to access its summary page, and go to the "Info" tab
  5. Mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box
  6. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
  7. Enter your Google account's log in details. Alternatively, you can tap "Configure" if you have already added a Google account in iTunes, and select it from the list
  8. Click "Apply" to begin the syncing process
  9. On the Xperia E3, register the same Google account and allow it to sync contacts with your Android device

Using iCloud:

NOTE: if you have already used the iCloud service on your iPhone, your contacts should be backed up on your iCloud account. Using a computer with Internet access, you can sign in to your iCloud account and export the contacts for using them on your Android phone.

  1. Open the Internet browser on your computer
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/
  3. Sign in with your iCloud account and click "Contacts"
  4. Select the contacts you want to export and click the "Settings" icon
  5. Select "Export vCard" and wait for the process to complete
  6. After the file has been downloaded on your computer, import it to "Google Contacts"
  7. Alternatively, skip the step above and instead: connect the Xperia E3 to your computer via USB and copy the VCF / vCard file to the phone's memory. Then, launch the "Contacts" app, press "Menu" > "Import contacts" > "SD card" and select the file you wish to import

Using "My Contacts Backup":

NOTE: While the methods described above work very well, they do require access to a computer hooked up to the Internet. You can, however, transfer contacts with the help of 3rd party apps too. My Contacts Backup is an iOS application that allows you to back up the contacts stored on your phone, and export them via email to any other smartphone. To use this method:

  1. Visit the App Store and download "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Launch the application
  3. Tap "Backup" and wait for the backup file to be created
  4. Once done, tap "Email" to compose a new email with the backup file attached to it
  5. Send the email to your Gmail address
  6. Switch to the Xperia E3 and open the email. Then, download the attached file
  7. Import the file using the "Contacts" app and the "Import" function from the menu

Using "Send Anywhere":

NOTE: Send Anywhere is another third party application that can be used to transfer contacts without the need of a computer, even cross-platform. The app uses a P2P connection to transfer various types of files. To use this method:

  1. Visit the Google Play Store and download "Send Anywhere" on the Sony Xperia E3
  2. From the App Store, install the same app on your iPhone too
  3. Launch the application on both smartphones
  4. Tap "Send" on the iPhone, followed by "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts you want to share and tap "Send"
  6. Select the desired method of transfer. Tapping "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone will create a code that can be scanned with the Xperia E3's camera to begin the transfer. You can also tap "Receive" on the Sony smartphone, and enter the transfer code randomly generated on the iPhone
