Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC to Use as Ringtones / Notifications:
- Connect the Sony Xperia E3 to your computer via USB
- From the AutoPlay window on the computer, select to browse the phone's files and folders
- Open the "Internal Storage' folder and access the "Music" and / or "Notifications" directories
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired audio files are located on your computer's HDD
- Copy the desired audio files and transfer them in the "Music" and / or "Notifications" directories
- After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
- Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" and click "OK" to confirm
- You can now safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
Changing the Phone Ringtone:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Access "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
- Tap "Sound" and under "Ringtone & Vibration", tap "Phone ringtone"
- Tap the "Music" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
- Navigate to, and select the audio files you want to use for your phone's ringtone
- Tap "Done" to confirm
Changing the Ringtone of a Single Contact:
NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts stored on the SIM card or the phone's memory.
- Open the "Phone" application
- Access the "Contacts" tab located in the top-right corner of the screen
- Select the contact you want to edit and tap the "Edit contact" icon located in the upper-right area of the display
- Swipe to, and tap the "Ringtone" drop-down menu
- Tap the "Music" icon located in the upper-right corner
- Choose the audio file you want to set as the contact's ringtone
- Tap "Done"
Changing the Notification Sound:
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Scroll to "Device" and tap "Sound"
- Swipe to "System" and tap "Default notification sound". NOTE: Newly transferred files in the "Notifications" folder will appear at the bottom of the list
- Choose the desired notification sound
- Tap "Done" to confirm
