    Yes, just make sure that the ESN of the new phone is clear & able to be activated. Most Sprint stores will do the ESN swap free of charge (we do), or you can call Sprint Customer Service and have them do it directly. There isn't an activation charge unless you are activating a new plan.

    ESN = Electronic Serial Number

    It is located on the back of the phone under the battery (generally).

    You can call Sprint Customer Service to verify whether or not you can activate it. (1-800-Sprint-1)

    Becareful, let me advise u now.. The store i went to, i CALLED first and said, excuse me, ive got a phone, my mother wants to use cause i am buying a NEW sanyo 9000, so all i need is an ESN swap, do u charge for that? they said NO, WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR THAT..so i go down there in PERSON..ask the SAME thing BEFORE they make ANY changes..again, I GET THE SAME ANSWER...well, one month goes by..2...3..4 FINALLY I GET A CHARGE OF 36.00 TWICE ON EACH ACCOUNT!!!!! i was FURIOUS and i called sprint and had it out with them!!! they credited my account but let me tell you, im DONE with sprint, its not the first time theyve OUTRIGHT lied to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    TRIPLE CHECK, ASK FOR A MANAGER BEFORE GETTING A "FREE" ESN SWAP! and ask for a signed paper, in case

    Cellairis is correct, most stores do not charge, but call ahead and make sure. Also make sure the phone is clear for activation before you spend any money on it.

    And Renée, there is no reason to get anything signed, you make it sound like he's going to a used car dealership. Mistakes can be made by anybody, Sprint is not the only company that ever makes mistakes on billing. They were quick to correct it when you called and brought it to their attention, is that correct? Did you need to present them with any signed papers?
