About 2 years ago, my wife and I bought 2 SprintPCS phones from Best Buy, paid the extra $60 or whatever for the 2 year-replacement deal and were pretty happy with it- they replaced the phones for us a couple times, and at no cost to us. Fast-forward 2 years and we just upgraded to 2 new Katanas from one of those Sprint stores and their warranty service plan is $6 a month, per phone, with a $50 deductible. This plan SUCKS!!! However, cell phones do take quite a beating, so I want to have some sort of plan in place. Does anyone know if there are any 3rd-party companies that provide extended warranties or repair/replacement plans for cell phones, without having to go with Sprints suck-*** plan? Thanks for any advice!

Re: Warranty plan alternatives?
You can go with whatever manufacturer warranty the phones come with, but keep in mind if anything goes wrong, you have to mail it in and wait for it to come back. The $50 deductible kinda stinks, but honestly it's about the same with any provider, since several of them use the same insurance company (Lockline). At least with insurance through your carrier, they will send you a replacement first to make sure there is no interruption of your service. I haven't heard of any third-party insurers for cell phones, but I'll let you know if anything comes across.

You might be able to use Safeware.
Laptop Insurance From Safeware
No experience with them, but I noticed that their NY coverage is only $50/year. Worth looking into.
