I dialed a pcs phone number, the person who answered, was not the person I was calling, had a totally different phone number. (confirmed). My phone co is not Sprint, so my company would not even take a repair report. I called Sprint/Nextel *three* times, each call taking several minutes for me to calmly and courteously explain the situation, get transferred to 'tech support' and get disconnected.

It's not that I made a mistake in dialing. For ex,the number I dial is 123-444-6666, and the number I reach is 123-777-2222
I don't know the person I'm calling's name- she answered an ad, didn't leave her name, just the #. I hoping eventually she'll find out her phone is out of order, or it could be the wires are crossed. well, it's wireless so I guess it's not the wires that are crossed.

or perhaps the person forwarded the callls and made a mistake in the number. But that's pretty strange, considering she is leaving a message for an apt.
I wish I could get someone to investigate, but apparently not.

    Does anyone have any ideas?
    thanks,
    ellenr

Re: A weird problem involving Sprint PCS

This is a very rare occurrence but not unheard of. Also, I've heard of it happening with other providers like T-Mobile, so it's not just a Sprint problem. Even though we think of our phones as "wireless" at some point in time the call has to be routed from point a to point b and sometimes the "wires" get crossed, just like with a landline. Has it continued to happen over and over again, or just a random occurrence? If it kept happening over and over then I'd be a little more interested in looking into it. If you want to call Sprint again, try 877.812.1223 and you'll get business support, they're usually a bit more courteous, professional, and knowledgeable than the outsourced Indians you get dialing the other Sprint numbers.

Re: A weird problem involving Sprint PCS

Well Brad, the number you gave me was an improvement, but the person I talked to ended up by saying he couldn't help me. But I thank you.
He gave me a number for a supervisor at another location. (hopefully not India, altho I have nothing against Indian people.]

To answer your question, yes it is happening over and over since Saturday. And I assure the folks at the Auto CLub are getting tired of hearing from me! I even asked them if they had an employee who might have forwarded her calls there, they said they have no female employee.

I'm glad you at least have heard of this happening, I feel like I've entered the Twilight Zone. One thing this Sprint person did was ask the Auto Club if they had received other calls for the person who I'm trying to reach. They said no. So that is strange. Unless the person who called and left the # on my machine is playing a prank, but she didn't sound like it. What would be the point of that?

Anyway before I try the supervisor, I'm going to walk around the block. I'll post back if I get any where. This is greatly annoying.

Aren't you glad we have all this technology to make communication easier!?
