No, it will not work. The only other carrier it will work on is Cingular.

It's pointless to unlock it because only the phone and text will work.

T-Mobile uses a network type called GSM, complete with SIM cards in the back of the phone that tells it what signals to pick up and your number. Sprint uses a network called CDMA that is completely different that not only doesn't have SIM cards, but doesn't support unlocked phones.*

*You can find unlocked phones for CDMA networks, just that they are not very easy to do as putting an unlocked GSM phone on a GSM carrier.

Everyone is correct, Sprint's CDMA network is only compatible with Sprint phones, and T-Mobile's Sidekick is GSM. Furthermore, the Sidekick's web and data services are only compatible with T-Mobile (the only exception would be if you can get a sidekick provisioned to work on a network that sells the HipTop like SunCom, but I don't think they'll give you the settings so that's still very unlikely).

As for Char's disclaimer... that is also correct. You may be able to find an "unlocked" CDMA phone on ebay but Sprint won't activate it for you because they only activate ESNs for Sprint branded phones. There is a Canadian provider called MTI and as far as I know they are the ONLY CDMA provider that activates unlocked CDMA phones.
