Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
Its their customer service that sucks.
Long lines at service centers
Long waits on phone in service
Low customer complaint resolutions
I could go on...Last edited by camstuf; 06-21-2009 at 08:16 PM.

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
The network itself is perfect whenever it's available.
Sprint does offer more roaming than most...which isn't necessarily good. Yes, you'll have coverage but you may become limited on features. Sprint provides on network coverage along major freeways and highways and in most major cities. Roaming by Verizon Wireless, the existing Alltel network, and U.S. cellular to name a few make up the vast majority of the Sprint network.
I can tell you that if you are ON NETWORK and not roaming, Sprint has excellent call quality and usually full bars.
The customer service is probably the worst in the industry. They don't thoroughly train their employees in proper customer service skills. They also have mediocre stores compared to their competitors.
Also, pricing isn't considered the best but is better compared to some of the largest competitors (Verizon/AT&T).
Personally, I wouldn't survive if I had to deal with Sprint.

ok, yeah i agree. the customer service does suck. But what other plan offers the same package deals sprint has as well as a good selection of phones?

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
Sprint service pricing is only as good as what you get.
The wireless industry is one of the few places where you can truly say it is true that when you pay more, you get better service...service in general.
Yes, Sprint's plans are pretty good...but I wouldn't want one. They have a lot of roaming, bad customer service, pricier phones, and overall it would be a bad experience.
Their selection of phones is actually not as good as their closes competitors.

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
One has to wonder, after all this time, why Sprint can't get the customer service thing right. That would solve 95% of their problems.
That said, I came to this forum wondering if anyone can shed light on the rumors that Sprint may be getting ready to sell Nextel off. I've heard that they might be selling it to a private equity firm or maybe even AT&T. I've also been told by a Sprint store manager that Sprint can't sell Nextel until sometime in 2012 because of an agreement with the FCC & FTC. I currently carry a Boost iDEN phone for work, but the call quality is awful, and the service near my house is nearly non-existent. I won't even consider getting a Sprint/Nextel contract phone, because I don't want to deal with their tricks and bad customer service. Also, the only combined iDEN/CDMA phone they offer is the Motorola ic520, and I don't like it. Therefore, I also carry an AT&T phone that is on my girlfriend's plan, just so I can make and receive calls and texts on a consistent basis. It would be great if somebody other than Sprint were to buy Nextel and make good use of the walkie-talkie service, because maybe customers like me wouldn't have to carry two phones.Last edited by Ericinphilly; 06-29-2009 at 03:32 PM. Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
I didn't think the AT&T rumor made much sense.
If Nextel went to an independent company, they could possibly use dual line phones, allowing iDEN and CDMA lines, or iDEN and GSM on the same handset. The service could be marketed through the major carriers (if they agreed) as "Sprint with Nextel" or "AT&T with Nextel", or maybe even "Verizon with Nextel". There would be two lines, one for iDEN and the other for normal cell phone service from the major carrier, each with its own number, all on the same handset. Nextel would be something of a "premium service" sold through your provider. The iDEN network could then be used primarily for walkie-talkie service, which is what it does best.
The real question is would Sprint be able to take that $5 billion and actually use it to improve the company.

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
I like Sprint personally. I have never had a problem with it and I think they have a great selection of phones. I have never had to deal with customer service though, so I cannot comment on that part of it. I always have great service and the internet is fast. Plus, the phone as modem option is a life saver and it moves faster than dial-up.

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
Spring Customer Service has been very bad, but I do know that I had to call them recently for my Fiance, and had a very pleasent expierence, had someone competent (overage on Data Card Questions) and even helped me more than anyone else has in a while. Can't say it wasn't a fluke, but seemed better to me!

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
oh my god..
i would bet money that most of you people who are saying nice things about sprint either haven't had sprint for very long or are working for sprint and trying to trick people into thinking that sprint is good..
well bottom line. sprint sucks.
the customer service is terrible, they charge you for random **** and don't tell you about it, and getting signal with any sprint phone is impossible! (what's the point of even having a phone if you can't use it??)
i think that the worst part is not having signal..
getting text messages hours after they were actually sent and never recieving import calls is a big deal.. and never being able to send messages or make important calls sucks too..
the reason sprint plans are so cheap is because they just give you a load of ****.

me and EVERYONE i know who has sprint

Re: why does everyone keep saying sprint sucks?
nicknrm, I have to agree with sprintsucks. Sprint is a horrible provider, bait & switch, outright lying, expensive phones and mediorcre service. Their prices are cheap, but in the cell industry you get what you pay for. The numbers bear this statement out, massive slide in user numbers, inability to return to profiablity. Sprint doesn't understand their customers, their customer needs, their market or how to properly support customers.
