If you are considering Sprint/Nextel think again. I spent the last 4 hours in sprint stores and on the phone with several people and still have no solution to my service problems. I wish I had kept a log of the time I have spent in the sprint stores and on the phone with them. This month alone would be close to 20 hours and my service problems have been going on for the past 8 months.

For the last 8 months the service on my phone has Been horrible!!!!
    1. I have received text messages that were sent to me 3 days before. this has happened more than once this month.
    2. Daily, I receive text messages from 3 to 7 to 9 hours later.
    3. almost every text I get comes through 2 to 3 times (this can be quite annoying even if you don't text that much as your phone is always going off and you are constantly reaching for it for no reason)
    4. blackberry messenger stops showing words after a while, so you cant see what you are writing. (tough performing a battery pull and waiting 5 to 8 min. for your device to restart usually fixes this, be prepared to perform a battery pull every few hours.
    5. When sending photos in e-mail you will be lucky if it sends only to see that little red X next to your message saying it did not send hours or days later.
    6. Whenever someone calls, the caller hears "please wait while the nextel subscriber you are trying to reach is located" and gets sent to voicemail.
    7. if I am lucky enough for my phone to ring I have to be quick as I only have 1 ring to answer in in before I miss the call.
    8. Almost no phone service at home, and bad outside. If I am on my phone at home you will find me standing in the street and still repeating myself because i still can’t be heard. (Sprint/Nextel will tell you they do not guarantee coverage in ANY structure)

Now customer service. That’s another story. Everyone I have dealt with seems to just want to push me off to someone else. But not before they make you explain in detail the problems you are having, only to get transferred and then you get to tell your story again. I go to a store; tell them what's going on, they tell me I have to call customer service. I call customer service, tell them what's going on, they tell me I need to talk to Tech support. I talk to tech support, they keep you on the phone for a while pulling battery, reading them info off the phone, sending things to your phone, doings test calls/texts and reactivating my phone. (and if you tell them you have already done this it does not matter. They will make you do it again and again.) Then they tell me they could not fix it and they say they have to submit a ticket and it will take 24 to 72 hours and they will call me back and at that time they can issue a credit for the time I had poor service. I ask them if they will be crediting me 8 months and they say no (don't sit around waiting for them to call you back because it does not happen and you get to start the whole process over). then they ask if you have any problems with billing and you get to tell the whole story to the angry lady in account services. She tells me I have to take my phone to a sprint store and order a replacement phone. I tell her i just did that 2 weeks ago the tells me I have to do it again. She also tells me they will not credit ANYTHING and if I want out of this contract its going to cost me $150 (then another $200 or so to get stared at another phone company). i ask if there are any other options and she says that's it. (i forgot to mention being disconnected and getting to start this whole process over a few times.

So at the end of the day 8 have been paying for terrible service for the past 8 months. Had my time (and gas) wasted. Have to dish out around $300 to $400 for a working phone and have a 2 week old blackberry paper weight. If you are still thinking Sprint/Nextel. i don't know what to say.

Re: Sprint/nextel bad customer service and customer service nightmare

How is the Sprint (not Nextel) coverage in your area?

If it's good call back and ask for retentions, explain the problemwith your Nextel service and ask them to switch you to Sprint service. They will gladly move you over and send you a Sprint
phone (maybe at a small cost) but it's better than switching companies and paying ETF.

FYI, Sprint wants to move people away from Nextel and this is your way out.

    Hope this helps!
