My husband and I share a family plan and I noticed today while looking at T-Mobile online that someone had sent him about 180 text messages since April 4th. It also showed that he had replied to 14 of them. However he didn't know anything about it until I called to ask who it was. He has not received texts from anyone but me nor, of course, has he responded. We don't even know anyone in the state or that phone number. T-Mobile is charging us for the usage (we don't have text messaging on his phone at all) because they said he sent texts back to that number. But he didn't because he didn't receive them!
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any ideas on what I can say to T-Mobile. I plan on calling them back tomorrow. Please help!!

my wife is doing alot of txt and i want it to stop. i call t-mo to cancel the txt messaging service that we had and t-mo said they cannot cancel it bcoz this is the only way they communicate with ther customer so i can't do anything. maybe those txt that your wife recieved is from t-mo (advertising) that's why they don't let us to cancel the txt messaging on our plan. this is like legal stealing. they send txt for free and we get charge for incoming txt charge.

I know this is a T-Mobile thread, so forgive my banter.
My wife and I both use Cingular with our Moto V551 phones. The last bill we got showed about six pages of data transmission from her phone. These were not identified as text messages, but data transfer. Every 30 mins her phone would transfer an even 2k or 4k of data...to somewhere. Her phone covers up to 500k of data transfer per month for free, and thereafter its 2 cents per kilobyte. After transferring 2-4k every 30 minutes for a month, those 2 and 4 cent charges added up to about $22.00. I just noticed this on the bill yesterday and have not had the energy to go through the maze of customer service personnel to ask what's going on.
I just thought I'd toss that out there so you wouldn't feel like T-Mobile customers were the only ones with mysterious issues.
On another note, four of us share a family plan. Not only is every single call made or received for each phone listed, but so is each text message and internet data transmission. Having an entry for every single thing like that made our bill 134 pages long this month. The bill weighed as much as a small novel. It didn't cost any more than normal (except for the 22.00 I mentioned earlier) but 134 pages? Pretty soon they're gonna have to increase my rates just to pay for the paper the bill comes on.

After talking with about 5 or 6 different people and not getting anywhere I just told the last lady that we were being harassed and asked her if she could take the charges off from that numbers incoming texts. So there is an investigation going and she put a dispute to accounting about the bill. It's only up to $15-$20 but it's rediculous that it even happened. We might also be changing our number. We'll find out for sure what happens on wednesday.
I also called the number and an automated voice said that it was out of service and when T-Mobile called they got a fast busy signal that sounded like it was disconnected. I think that might have help my case. It's really frustrating.

Unfortunately the text messaging issue is a problem with the wireless industry period it has little to so with the service provider, Europe that is about five years ahead of us talks about the un-wanted text messages more of a problem in Japan also they may have resolved it but because text and voice messages arrive at the handset in the same way to date the issue is still on-going .... you should be careful giving out your mobile number, mobile numbers to date do not offer the features such as block calls, be careful whom you give your number to ...

Don't bother changing the # you can go to tmobile.com and filter the messages so whoever is sending them won't be able to anymore you can do this with phone #'s and e-mail addresses.

go to a t-mobile dealer and get a new sim, it might cost you $20, you might have "burned" you SIM, that might be why its not workin. When a sim is burned it means you entered a PIN number wrong 3 times and the PUK number wrong 3 times, it totally burns the sim card and renders it useless

texts
So after changing my husbands # 3 days ago I got online today and that same number is shown as texting us again the day after the number change. We haven't given the new # to anyone and the number that is supposedly texting us is no longer in service. How exactly can they be texting us if their number is out of service??? So I'm still working on things with them. They denied the Advanced Billing Research but if I have to pay this (it's not even that much) then I'll ask them to file it again.
Any ideas on how to get out of a contract? I figure no but I have to ask.
Also, anyone know why it is that this # shows as texting us on the bill but it has never come up on his phone? I'm trying to research online right now but I'm not getting anything yet. We live in WA state and he's currently in NC under a Cingular tower. I'm wondering about interceptions and all that.
Do you think changing his SIM card might work for this situation? I need anything I can get!! I also blocked his new number online. What the heck do I do if that doesn't work?!?
I'm taking this as far as I can if they won't take it off my bill.Last edited by swimscar; 05-04-2005 at 09:44 PM.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that after changing the number and blocking it on the new number the texts were still showing up on the bill. I call yet again and finally got someone who would listen. Turns out the number was a T-Mobile number but it wasn't issued to anyone. She even told me herself that something weird was going on. so I don't have to pay any of it and they are investigating what could have happened.
