I have been a T-Mobile customer on the Family Plan
(2 lines) for 3 years now and am considering
cancelling service. I've never received or asked for
any phone upgrades and have never renewed my
contract with them (can cancel at any time.)
Does anyone know what kind of incentives
(free phones, rebates, service credits, etc.)
T-Mobile will offer me to stay? Basically, I want to
know whats the *most* I can get out of them for
not cancelling. I know if I were to call and ask, they
wouldn't offer much at first. Only if I'm bent on
leaving will they start offering the good stuff.
Has anybody else been in this situation?
What have you been able to get?

See More: What can I get for staying?

First they'll thank you for being a loyal customer for the last 3 years... be upfront tell them that you would like to cancel your service because: A) if you switch providers they could get you (insert phone model) for (x) price... they'll tell you that they can offer you lower end models for free if you extend your contract or get you the higher end ones at a discount... If you like a certain model and are adamant about leaving, then they may cut you a deal on it... tell them you would even benefit from ending service with them and activating new phone nunbers with them because as a new customer you could get better discounts as opposed to just renewing... If you want the most don't give in right away and play the loyalty card...

    I'll say this:

I have been with TM since the old OMNIPOINT days, even before Voicestream.

I have upgraded phones and plans for years now. I want a RAZR but I'll be damned if Im paying anything out of pocket anymore! I can switch to CIngular and get TWO RAZRS for free with a family plan. So TM better be nice to one of its longtime customers..............ME!!

    2 FREE RAZRS?? from where!?

smg1062: That's what I wanted to do too... switch to Cingular and get the RAZR for free and I was hoping T-Mobile would match that if I threaten to cancel (I hear they'll also have the RAZR soon too). BUT, how did you manage to get Cingular to give you 2 FREE RAZRS?? They're only offering me 1 free RAZR + 1 cheapo on the family plan. Is Cingular offering this at their stores, or an authorized dealer? 2 free razrs is mighty tempting.....

    Not Cingular....

One of the authorized dealers told me 2 FREE Razrs after rebates. My friend did that and got all the rebates back!!!!

TM needs to step up to the plate. As it is, they still have the weakest selection of products.....................they cannot afford to lose customers.

With Razr now available for t-mobile service, I think cingular may come out with better promotions for razr. But cingular and ATT service have been so bad in the past that I wont be surprised if they say, 'you can cancel if you want, we wont give you anything for free'.
I got mine for almost free from a local retailer in NJ/USA and it is unlocked already.

Everyone has to remember, by doing an upgrade or activating new service, that prices vary from dealer to dealer, indirect dealers sometimes offer extra rebates or accessories, its all different anywhere you go except from direct dealers obviously

Any authorized dealers in cali giving 2 free razrs?

Too bad I can't find an authorized/indirect dealer to give me 2 free razrs. I've spoke with a bunch of dealers in the bay area california region, and the most I could get from them for signing with Cingular on the family plan is 1) free black razr + free cheapo, or 2) free black razr + $100 rebate after 6 months (must bring in your own 2nd phone to activate). If T-mobile wants $175 for the razr and a contract renewal, they can forget it. I'll be calling them to cancel in a few days... let's see what they say.

It is an expensive phone, so to give it for free would be very difficult for any 'brick and mortar' retailer. They have to pay rent and insurance etc . However you can get it for free from amazon. Check my links at http://www.swpro.com. Amazon is currently selling only for cingular. And read the fine print about rebates.

If you want for T-mobile, send me a PM or email [email protected] and I will give you a retailer in my city (Edison, NJ) who will charge you some money but give you other freebies to make the deal sweet. One of our forum members contacted him two days ago and got this deal:

Cingular: Razr for $100 with one year contract, $50 with 2 year contract, but with these freebies that are worth that money.
    1. Unlocked phone (how much? maybe $25-50)
    2. Car Charger (maybe 15-20)
    3. Blue tooth (40-50)
    4. Free Shipping (maybe 15-20)

He also can give a comparable deal for t-mobile. Let me know if interested. I can help you get in touch with him.

I had no problem, i bought a cingular phone and put a t-mo sim. Works fine. Of course the menus specific to cingular wont work - like media net, cingular shopping.
T-mo support helped me change the settings for web browser so it goes to t-mobile and not cingular, they also helped me add menus for t-zones. Very simple process.
