To Unlock the V188 there is a free software floating around that will do it, but you do need to buy a mini-usb cable.

I have these for sale - $12 (PM or email me if you'd like to discuss this more)

you can also get an unlock code from Tmobile if your account has been open more than 90 days and you are not past due.

most of the moto phone can unlock thru data cable solution.
my advise is to save some money buying data cable and unlocking soft, check ebay! i saw some seller willing to unlock your phone for $8 but you need to send your phone to them. i try this alot of times to all the phone i have that have tough lock and they good.
