As a prepaid T-Mobile to Go user, I quickly found out that we don't get some of the perks that those with "plans" get. We can't register for "My T-Mobile". Also, the T-Mobile messaging webpage, can't be used to send messages to T-Mobile to Go customers. Text messages can be sent to us at a [email protected] address, and we can receive them for free. People with "plans" can create a "friendly" e-mail address for their cell phones, but we To Go customers are stuck with the unfriendly phone number address.
Since it's free for us to receive text messages, I was thinking of ways to make it easier for people to send text messages to my phone.
I thought I'd try a free email forwarding service - set up a friendly email address (something like [email protected]) that would forward mail to my unfriendly address. Has anybody done this successfully? I tried but my cell phone never received the "confirmation email" that was sent to my phone from the forwarding service.
Also, I thought of a webpage where people could go just to type in a message to me, click send, and then it would be sent to my tmomail.net address. Anybody done anything like this successfully?
Finally, I notice that some text messages get through to my cell phone, some do not, or take a very long time to get there. It seems to depend a lot on WHERE the message is coming from. Anybody know what's going on there? Is this a T-Mobile thing, a T-Mobile To Go thing, or what?
Thanks for indulging a newbie.

Yeah, Gmail has a good forwarding service. What site did you use?

Why wouldn't you just set up a yahoo account and have it forwarded from there, I've never used a confirmation message, the only downside is that you wouldn't see the html graphics. Oh well.
