You need an Internet plan to be able to download tones...

Although you are correct Tony E, he doesn't need an Internet plan. You could always get a cable on Ebay for a buck or 2

I hear ya.. record execs and artists MAY have a different take on that.
I was at a conference where Xingtone was pitching the same argument to a bunch of record companies.. the record companies said "you gotta lot of XXXX coming here and preaching that stuff.."
Getting a plan and downloading is much smoother a process than going the USB cable route. Many just want the tone, not the hassle and they are not tech savvy or have the time and patience to figure it out. They could pay for a data plan, and find some royalty free ringers out there, and the cost is minimal to transfer...

....or they could use their own CD's to create MP3's and upload them via a usb cable?? ..... we're not talking about illegal downloading persay - making a backup mp3 on your computer (or phone) is not illegal if you;ve purchased the CD...

Oh i'm sure they have their take on it, as a matter of fact, they are making tons of money selling their music for ringtones to the major Wireless Carriers, but that's not the topic here nor the Forum to discuss this is it?
Again the original poster is asking how to get free ringers, the question was answered adequately so move on...

I agree Tony E. It should be a separate thread altogether as it's a tangent from this thread. Jeaniesing... you do make a valid point, but I'll wait to respond in a separate discussion.
