T-mobile claims on their website that with its international roaming "your world isn’t limited to a few countries, and neither is T-Mobile."

I considered this option to be a reason to chose T-Mobile. Not anymore.

On a recent trip to England my world-phone discovered the T-Mobile UK network but the network did not allow me to register. The same happened with other T-Mobile partner networks.

After my return to the states I called customer service. The service people (including the supervisor) said that, T-mobile "promises only the ability to roam on another network, but not the actual romaing service."

When I asked the supervisor whether that was not in conflict with the advertisements he said, he 'does not care' about the advertisements.

So if you or your company choses T-Mobile because of its International Roaming service, beware! All you get is a promise that you may try to roam, you may or may not get the actual service.

Note, that I am a T-Mobile customer from the beginning of its US operations. The fact that there was no attempt to trouble-shoot, no attempt to apologize, together with, what I consider, false advertisement, leaves me very disappointed.

The reason you may not have been able to register on the tmo uk network was probabally because you didn't ask to have world class roaming permissions added to your account.

You didn't mention in your post if you had specificially asked what it takes to roam internationally.

by doing one quick search on t-mobile.com for "international roaming" you'll learn that in order to roam internationally you'll need to have world class roaming permissions added to your account.
    http://search.t-mobile.com/htmlgw//u...tional+roaming

so don't let this issue prevent you from switching to t-mobile especially now since they have their promotional $50 1500 min w/ nts/wks rate plan!

    Sincerely,
    Corey

    World Roaming Permissions

Thank you for your post -- alas, I had checked my permissions both before I went to the UK and before I called customer service. I have had international roaming on my account since T-Mobile took over Voice-Stream...

I have to add that this problem had occurred during previous travels in Switzerland. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not work.
