I got a question. There is a cell phone that I will get soon. It is a Samsung x495. The question is, it says the phone comes with $15 of airtime I think. What does that mean, and what can that be used for?
Another question I got is: Do you get a bill each month, if it is pay as you go?
Last question is: How would I get a ringtone from T-Zones (I think that is it, if they sell some) if my phone is a pay as you go?
Thanks in advance.

The Samsung X495 isn't a bad phone, the $15 airtime credit is 60 minutes to start out with. After you use them up, you will need to purchase T-Mobile To Go airtime cards. So you will not receive a monthly bill. T-Mobile To Go has unlimited T-Zones, with this you will be able to download ringtones from your phone. They are $1.99 per download.

Ok thank you, but I have another question. How do they charge you for like ringtones, wallpaper, etc.?

it just comes off the 'credit' you get when you buy a card and activate it. tmo to go is much like using long distance phone cards you get at walmart, walgreens, or wherever. except you don't dial an 800 # to connect. you phone/tmo account keeps track of the minutes/airtime you purchased (say $20) and deducts for every call you make. so if you download a ringer right off the bat you'd have $18.01 of call time remaining. check out the tmo site for specific call costs/charges. i'm not sure what they are.

When you dial #999# talk from your T-Mobile handset it will send you a message informing you how much credit you have left on your account and how many minutes.

So basically, for example, if I buy a $15.00 card that has 60 minutes, and I buy a ringtone for $1.99, I get $13.01., and I have less minutes to use, or do I still have 60 minutes? Sorry for asking these questions, I'm kinda new.

xThe Counterx, you are on the right track. If you buy a ringtone for $1.99, it will deduct from your minutes as well. You will be left with 52 minutes. Dialing #999# will let you know your T-Mobile To Go balance in dollars and in minutes.
The $15 of starter time = 60 minutes. In other words, $0.25 per minute. However, the bigger the minute card you buy, the cheaper the minutes.
For example:
$10 = 30 minutes
$25 = 130 minutes
$50 = 400 minutes
$100 = 1000 minutes
There is also a thing called gold rewards, which you will get once you have spent a total of $100 worth of buying minutes. Don't worry about spending $100 at once, each card you buy will help toward you getting there. Once you have gold rewards,
$10 = 50 minutes
$25 = 150 minutes
$50 = 460 minutes
$100 = 1000 minutes (same as regular)

I'm wondering if I'm paying to access these little sites, or are they free? I don't see my remaining minutes going down, but since I know nothing's free in this world, so I thought I'd try to see clarification on this before using that function more frequently (and getting charged up the wazoo for it).
I'm wondering if anyone can maybe shed some light on this? Is this stuff free for prepaid customers, or am I going to get a bill at some point, etc?
Any info anyone has would greatly appreciated, rest assured.

Great, thanks for the info, Mattman. I really appreciate it. I too am quite pleased with my phone thus far, it's a great service for people like me, who only want a phone for emergencies and when I get lost driving, etc. But the fact that I can read news now and then for free is pretty dang neat, should make waiting in line a little more pleasant, etc. I know the amount of data you can access is limited, but top stories and weather is really more than enough to satisfy me.
Thanks again for the info!
