Hello, I need some advices from you guys.
I have been with T-Mobile for about 3 years. I have had Family Plan (That old 49.99 plan with 500 mins) with 4 lines total, but recently my son got Sprint and ported his # to his new service. So, now it's 3 lines with no contract.
One of my friends who has been with Sprint for a while told me that Sprint usually gives out some good deals (generally called retention plan) and good free phones to the existing customer if they renew contracts. Is there something similar to T-Mobile? If so, what kind of service would I expect to get, and how to get (ie. where to call, what should I tell them, etc)?
And last, I want to unlock the old phone (SGH-E315, which my son used) and how can I do that?
Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks in advance!

Re: Need advice for contract renewal & unlocking of phone
T-Mobile currently offers for $10 more a month, 200 more minutes than you have. They are also running a promotion for messaging, for $9.99/mo.(which covers every line on family plan) you get Unlimited Text, Picture, Instant and Video messaging. Now, if you change your rate plan they will extend your contract for 2 more years, with the renewal they will give you a discount on new phones. Login to myt-mobile.com and see what offers they currently have.
About the unlocking, why exactly do you want to unlock the Samsung E315? It is currently a T-Mobile phone, right?

Re: Need advice for contract renewal & unlocking of phone
I want to unlock it because I am not sure what service provider my friend wants to use. If it's T-Mobile, I'm fine, but what if he wants Cingular? That was my concern.
Anyway, so I guess I can't expect much of 'SPECIAL' plan T-Mobile (like Sprint's retention plan), I assume?

The best thing to do... is dial 611... and tell them that you want to cancel your plan... that way, they'll offer you many goods... because they want you to stay... and since you been with them for 3 years... you'll get a good deal...

Re: Need advice for contract renewal & unlocking of phone
Tmobile will probably unlock all the phones for you for free because you have been with them for more then 3 months. Let me add one thing to think about though. If you like your phones and plan have you thought about staying put. If you are happy with the phones and plan then being out of contract and month-to-month is HUGE. You can always call and ask what kind of goodies you can get to sign up for another round. But if they wont deal, imagine the feeling of knowing you hold all the cards! You can dump them at any time.
